I hope you all have been doing well in what continue to be unusual times. If you are not aware, there will be a Sung Mass in the Extraordinary Form at St. Blaise in Midland on October 13th at 7pm in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. It will be the Votive Mass of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Unfortunately, due to the Covid restrictions, we can only have a single cantor. Let us pray that those who are struggling in this difficult time receive the support they need and experience consolation in the love of Christ, along with praying that things develop in a way that will allow us to return to the real normal.
If you are lamenting our long absence of Gregorian Chant, you might want to take part in the Sacred Music CMAA Bootcamp – Oct 15th to the 17th. With it being hosted online, the price is very affordable ($10 a day, $30 for all three days) and their instruction is always worthwhile (I’ve attended many of their programs). It is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with the Church Music community in thought and prayer from the comfort of your own home.
Lastly, as many of you know, I have recently moved, along a few other major life changes. Though I have no idea what opportunities I will be able to offer in the future or where they will be located (possibly towards the east side of Pittsburgh), I do plan to still post on this site from time to time and continue to honor the roots of this effort originating and nourished at St. Monica’s through the patronage of her son, St. Augustine. It has been wonderful working with you all at St. Monica’s and St. Blaise and a true blessing to pray together. Thank you for participation and encouragement in our little endeavor. May God reward you.
