As I mentioned in class, there will be a Traditional Low Mass at St. Titus in Aliquippa this Sunday for the Feast of Pentecost. The Mass will begin at noon, with the rosary and confession starting at 11:30.
After the Mass, we will sing the Veni Creator, which provides a wonderful opportunity for a plenary indulgence (don’t forget to be attentive to the conditions needed to obtain the indulgence). You can visit the previous post to become familiar with the chant.
The teaching is rooted in our understanding of the purity of Heaven (being fully in the presence of God) and the real relationship within the Communion of Saints/Body of Christ. It also challenges us to realize that God is truly attentive to our expressions of love (both great and small) for Him and for neighbor (including the deceased). You might find this article on indulgences and/or this video on Purgatory helpful in understanding this opportunity the Church offers:
If you are interested in more information about this topic, I recommend “A Modern Guide to Indulgences: rediscovering this often misinterpreted teaching” by Edward Peters. It offers a thorough explanation, along with information about the indulgences that are available.
I hope you can join us on Sunday!
