It may be helpful to have a idea of what to expect for our first class on May 3rd. We will have two prayers through which the basics for chant and Latin pronunciation will be introduced. The first is the Ave Maria, which many of you are probably familiar with. Here is a video to help get a feel for the melody with the chant notation:
The second chant will be the Marian Antiphon for the season, the Regina Caeli:
This chant is traditionally sung in the Divine Office from Easter to Pentecost Sunday, so we only have a few more weeks to enjoy this joyful prayer to Our Blessed Mother.
Along with providing the building blocks to understand the nuances of chant, I will also offer reflections from saints and popes (and saint-popes) to help engage more deeply with the prayers. You can visit the About page to review the schedule and for a sense of what is planned. It would be helpful to follow this blog for regular updates (there is a button at the bottom of the page). Also, please feel free to email me through the contact section if you have any questions.
I hope you can join us!
